| About Us
Great Plains Artisans is a family
business that began in 1998 with weaving and
spinning equipment and one-of-a-kind handwoven
items. We were pretty much a 'traveling
show' attending art and fiber events in Kansas
and Nebraska. Then in 2003, we opened our
Past Times shop in a little red farmhouse north
of Phillipsburg, Kansas. We were finally
'in business.' In 2004, our Past times
shop was moved into Phillipsburg in conjunction
with The Shepherd's Mill, a fiber processing
operation. So we have two names: Great
Plains Artisans LLC (the parent company) and Past
Times (the retail shop), but we are all one.
We have grown to be a source for supplies,
equipment, and books for weaving and spinning,
felting, knitting and crocheting, bobbin lace
and tatting. We carry Louet, Glimakra, and
Kromski equipment as well as Gaywool Dyes and
Eucalan Woolwash. Our lines of yarn
include Brown Sheep Company and Ashland Bay.
Local artisans have a variety of products for
sale in our Past Times shop such as candles,
soaps, blacksmithing items, woodworking,
antiques and hand knitted, hand crocheted, and handwoven goods. Local fiber producers
sell Alpaca, Llama, Mohair, and Wool rovings and
yarns through our shop as well. We teach
classes and workshops in many different fiber
arts including dyeing, knitting, crocheting,
needle felting, felting, weaving, spinning and
much more.
Great Plains Artisans LLC is involved in many
fiber-related events and activities around
Phillipsburg, including: The Central Plains
Fiber Festival, Knitting Ministry, and our local
Fleece and Fiber Guild.
We believe in providing our customers with
quality merchandise at a fair price. We
offer only products that we have used and found
to be a good value.
As our online store evolves, we will be
adding more items and supplies for your fiber
projects. And as new products and
processes become available, we will be anxious
to try them and pass them on to our customers.
Thank you for checking us out, and we hope that
we can be helpful to you. |
